A GENEROUS donation from a kind stranger boosted the day of Macmillan coffee morning organisers.
On Saturday, Bev Campbell and Debbie Seal hosted their annual event at the Guildhall in Andover.
Throughout the day there were cakes galore, with many guests enjoying the coffee and walnut cake which accompanied the hundreds of teas and coffees drunk.
Event-goers also explored the host of table top stalls and entertainment for children while raising money for the cancer charity.
But the day was boosted for Bev and Debbie when they were given a donation of £450 as they were de-briefing with their volunteers.
“Our dream was to get to £1,000 and we didn’t quite make that but a man came over to us and said he wanted to make our dreams come true. He handed us the envelope, we looked inside and we couldn’t believe it. He became our knight in shining armour, we couldn’t stop crying,” Bev said.
The pair have thanked all those who helped them reach the final sum of £1,002.23 including friends, family, volunteers and sellers.
Plans have already begun for next year’s coffee morning with hopes to add to their £3,270 total so far.
