THE best of the borough’s businesses were celebrated at a gala dinner on Thursday evening.

The Museum of Army Flying hosted nearly 200 business representatives for the Test Valley Business Awards, to recognise achievements of 18 finalists, where six were crowned winners for 2018.

Stephanie Barnett of Pure Human Resources won the businesswoman of the year category, while employer of the year award went to VuePoint Solutions.

Wathen Marine Catering Equipment Services was recognised as small business of the year, and vivaMOS was presented the innovation and technology award and new business of the year.

The award for doing business locally was handed to The Sheep Shed Gallery.

This year, the winners were a cut above the rest of a record breaking 224 entrants across the six categories.

Guests also heard from the evening’s speaker journalist and broadcaster Dame Jenni Murray, who gave a “witty and fascinating” speech on the centenary of votes for women.

The event raised £1,265 for disability charity James’s Place Community Group, based in Penton Park, outside of Andover.
