A NEW plan has been submitted to transform a farm building into five new homes.

A planning application has been submitted to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to transform the barn at Dipper Barn Farm, south of Tufton.

The barn, built in the late 1960s, has previously been used for housing cattle, rearing chickens and storing agricultural equipment.

A statement submitted to the borough council read: “Five dwellings are proposed totalling 865m² comprising a single large dwelling house of 465m² and four smaller dwelling houses of 100m² and an equivalent area of curtilage [garden].”

The applicant, ADAM Architecture acting on behalf of the land owner, had previously had an application for three houses granted by the borough council in 2016.

However, Hurstbourne Priors Parish Council has raised objections to the proposed development.

A statement from the parish council read: “We do not consider that this site can accommodate five houses with the associated and necessary parking.”

The parish council also objected to the 2016 application, claiming the supporting statement to have been misleading, particularly regarding the site’s transport links.
