IT WAS a team effort when two businesses banded together to raise money for charity by sleeping rough for a night.

Three staff members from Correct Contract Services (CCS) and Radian Homes spent the night in the car park of the Crown Inn on Saturday, September 22.

Danny Gladwyn managing director (MD) of CCS, James McWilliams of CCS and Andy Godwin of Radian Homes battled through torrential rain to raise funds for their chosen charities, Andover Mind and Wessex Heartbeat.

Amanda Ravenscroft, senior resident liaison at CCS who helped to organise the fundraiser, said: “We wanted to do something in the areas where we live and work.

“We predominantly work in social housing, we come across a lot of homelessness which can be associated with mental health issues and health issues generally, that is why they chose the charities.

“Our MD said, if there is anything I can do to help, so we got him to put his money where his mouth is.

“It was the worst night ever, the weather was atrocious.

“They really did have an awful time, it rained the whole night. We actually felt quite sorry for them.”

Though sponsorship money from the event is still coming in, the trio have raised over £400 so far.

The Ludgershall community also helped the group in their fundraising efforts.

Amanda added: “They had a lot of support from the community in Ludgershall.

“Shawn, the landlord at The Crown Inn was absolutely great. He jumped straight on board.

“He was so kind and cooked them breakfast in the morning, and the local Tesco donated some bits like bacon and rolls. It was lovely there was lots of local support.”

The fundraising will not stop there as two further events are already planned for the coming months to boost funds further.
