MEMBERS of an education community celebrated the group’s decade-long existence on Saturday.

Overton and District University of the Third Age (known as U3A), held an open event at St Mary’s Hall in the village on Saturday where its groups showcased what they have to offer.

From art history to line dancing and mahjong, members and revellers alike joined in the fun, and watched demonstrations from the likes of Play Reading Group.

A piano quartet also played in the morning.

U3A secretary Valda Stevens said: “We had a good day. We had 23 different groups on display and a steady stream of people all the way through. It was very friendly and quite a lively day.”

Since the U3A first began in the area, the organisation now attracts around 260 members.
