A RANGE of Spooktacular events are on offer for families to take part in across Basingstoke and Deane this half-term.

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 6.30pm, Café Dome in Brighton Hill will be hosing a Halloween sweet hunt as well as spooky themed cakes and cookies and face painting.

Kingsclere’s Fieldgate Centre will offer a Halloween party tonight (October 22), messy food night (Tuesday, 23 October) and pumpkin carving (Wednesday, 24 October), whilst YMCA Basingstoke in Eastrop will prepare for a Halloween party on Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm before the party takes place on Wednesday evening from 7pm to 8.30pm.

Enjoy Halloween howlers and glow in the dark activities at Sherfield Park Community Centre and in the hub café. Sessions are split into age categories – seven to 11 years and 11 to 16 years – and will take place on Wednesday and Thursday.

Ten to 17 year-olds are invited to hit the DJ decks in The Warren at Hatch Warren Community Centre on Thursday from 6pm to 8pm. They can also prepare Halloween food and crafts on Friday from 6pm to 8pm and enjoy food, crafts and games from 8pm to 9.30pm.

The doors of the Ridgeway Centre in Buckskin will be open for eight to 14 year-olds for Halloween hats on Monday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, Halloween iced biscuits on Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8.30pm and pumpkin carving and fancy dress on Thursday 6.30pm to 8.30pm. 14 to 17 year-olds will be entertained by cakes, masks and pumpkin carving on Friday from 4pm to 8pm.

Head to the Shack Youth Club in Oakridge Hall for All where 11 to 17 year-olds are invited to participate in Gory Games on Monday 7pm and 9pm, and freaky food and a party on Wednesday from 7pm to 9pm.

Older children aged 11 to 16 years-old will have a fiendishly fun time at Westside Community Centre in South Ham with the Halloween sweet hunt on Tuesday from 6.30pm to 8pm and Halloween face painting on Thursday from 6.30pm to 8pm.

Cabinet member for communities and community safety at the borough council, Cllr Simon Bound said: “The Halloween Streetz programme has lots to offer local children and young people.

“There’s a diverse range of activities taking place in venues across the borough during half term week and anyone interested can just turn up and take part.

“Why not carve a pumpkin, enjoy some spooky treats or take part in some spooky fun in a safe environment?”
