A MEETING to decide whether a plan to expand Picket Piece – two years after an initial approval - will take place this week.

Test Valley Borough Council’s (TVBC) Northern Area Planning Committee has to determine if outline permission should be granted to build up to 30 homes on land north of Walworth Road.

Case officer Emma Jones has recommended the proposal be given the green light, but with a wealth of conditions.

The proposal by Dunsmere Developments Ltd was originally considered by the committee in August 2016 and it was decided that subject to developer contribution agreements it would be given the green light.

But since then there has been a change in national planning policy so it has been deemed the proposal should be looked at once again as no final agreement had been made.

However, the officers report notes there has been some objection to the proposal with neighbours concerned the plan would generate more traffic, it would not be in keeping with the character of the area and it would be overdevelopment.

Also on the agenda for the meeting is the planned demolition of an industrial building at Walworth Business Park to make way for two modern units.

It will be discussed by the committee as the plan has been submitted by Kier Property Developments Ltd on behalf of the council, but it has been proposed that the application be approved.

The council states: “The proposed development consists of the provision of two commercial units to replace the one existing building at the site, which would be demolished.”

And it added that the occupiers for the proposed unit are not yet known but the council has stated that it will offer a flexible space.

The plan has however received an objection from TVBC’s own highways department as it states the number of parking spaces have not been detailed.

The committee meeting takes place on Thursday, October 25 at 5.30pm at the Test Valley Borough Council offices, in Weyhill Road, Andover.
