A SPOOKTACULAR treat took to the skies this week in the run-up to Halloween.

Champion kite flyers Allan and Marilyn Pothecary, and Gwyneth Day decided to give park-goers a treat.

Visitors to the YMCA at Augusta Fields saw skeletons, witches and pumpkins soar across the sky on Tuesday.

Allan said: “On Tuesday I thought why don’t we get the Halloween kites out and fly them. It is just a bit of fun to go out and fly.”

While out enjoying their past time the couple and Allan’s sister Gwyneth drew in the crowds with children and adults amazed at the sights above them.

“We had lots of people come across and were amazed and started taking photos of the kites,” Allan added.

“There was one guy who saw us and went off to get his drone to be able to film them.”

But their Halloween fun did not end there as Marilyn has been driving around Andover with a skeleton called Yorrick.

“She has been getting some funny looks from people and others have been taking photos. Yorrick has been strapped in, safe with a seat belt.”

Marilyn and Allan are not just hobby kite flyers but were former British champions for around five years running and now teach others the skill.
