A COMMUNITY hall has been temporarily closed after police caught wind of a "planned disorder" at a Halloween party there tonight
A closure of premises notice has been issued for the Memorial Hall at Ludgershall this evening following information regarding a planned disorder at the venue.
The notice means the hall will be closed with immediate effect until 8am on Saturday.
Inspector Pete Sparrow said: “We had received intelligence that a disorder was planned at the hall this evening and this clearly presented an unacceptable risk to those attending a Halloween party at the location.
“We have taken on board the views of the Memorial Hall Committee and have reached a decision to close the hall until tomorrow morning.
“I appreciate this will disappoint those planning on attending a fun Halloween event and we can only apologise for the disruption this has caused. However, the public’s safety is our main concern and this decision has been taken to protect those in our community.
“Officers will patrol the area during the course of the evening and anyone who attempts to gain access to the venue will be arrested.”
The closure order has been issued under Sections 76 and 77 of the anti-social behaviour, crime and policing act 2014.
