A DAZZLING window display at a charity shop, celebrating the centenary of the end of the First World War, has been wowing shoppers with its creativity.

Staff at the Naomi House Charity Shop, in Bridge Street, have created a themed display, with a dress of poppies and a soldier’s uniform from The Great War taking centre stage.

Store manager and display mastermind, Valerie Blake, said: “We thought that as the Remembrance march goes past, it would be nice for that.

“It’s a 100 year celebration and we’re very proud.

“We’ve got a lovely team of volunteers, who have all pulled together and got bits for the window.”

With the aid of her team, and the extra help of volunteer Margaret’s creative daughter Debbie, Valerie’s vision has became a reality.

“Debbie is very arty, she’s had a big part to do with it. She got the flag and the uniform and put all the poppies on the dress.”

Valerie, who has been a manager for a Naomi House stores for 18 years, has always loved putting together thoughtful displays for special occasions.

Speaking about Valerie, Margaret Bowden, who volunteers at the store, said: “She always comes up with stuff, when we’re gonna do a Christmas window and all that, she’s pretty good at it.

“It makes a difference. It attracts people in and it is a lovely shop.

“She’s the best manager in the world, she really really is.”
