COMMUNITIES across the Test Valley and Wiltshire will come together this weekend to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our country.

The anniversary of the end of the First World War will be marked by parades, services and acts of Remembrance across the area on Sunday.

n In Andover, a parade will form at 10am in Bridge Street, marching up to St Mary’s Church for a service around the cenotaph at 10.45am in readiness for a two minutes’ silence at 11am. A service will also be held in the church at 10am.

There will also be a Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving in The NEST, adjacent to Kingfisher Ward at Andover War Memorial Hospital running from 3pm to 3.45pm. The event is open for all to attend.

At noon Andover bellringers at St Mary’s Church will chime as part of the national Ringing Remembers project.

n Ludgershall is to hold a parade which will start at 9.45am marching to the war memorial in High Street before a service held at St James’s Church and streamed to the monument and a minute silence at 11am. The centenary gardens will then be opened.

n Tidworth will host a joint military and civilian service at the Garrison Theatre and people are being asked to arrive between 9.30am and 9.45am to be seated by 9.50am.

The service will be followed by the Act of Remembrance and wreath laying at the war memorial at 10.45am. Those who are not attending the service at the theatre are welcome to join at the memorial.

n In Whitchurch there will be a parade from Bell Street which starts at 10.30am followed by a church service at All Hallows Church.

n In Overton there will be a parade, meeting at Beech Tree Care Home in Sprent’s Lane at 10.20am and setting off at around 10.30am to arrive at St Mary’s Church and assemble at the War Memorial for 10.50am.

There will then be an age appropriate service in the church rooms from 11am, for around 45 minutes, as well as the normal service in the main church.

n A service will be held at St Peter’s Church, in Stockbridge on Sunday, at 9.30am and then people will gather at the war memorial before 11am.

In the evening a Beacon of Light will be lit on Stockbridge Downs at 7pm. The community bus is available to take people to the downs from 5.30pm.

n The Holy Trinity Parish Church, in Penton Mewsey, will hold a service and is asking people to gather at 10.30am.

n St Mary’s Church in Longstock will hold a service at 10am before an Act of Remembrance by the war memorial at 10.50am.

n Students and staff at The Wellington Academy will also be marking the event with their annual whole school Remembrance Service this Friday between 10.20am and 11.20am.
