A DAUGHTER is calling for a complete overhaul of the care system after her family’s own fight to get their father the dementia care he needed never came to fruition.

Amanda Harrington, who lives in River Way, is urging people to realise the effects of dementia, not just on the individual, but on their whole family, to avoid going through what her family has experienced.

After battling for better care for her father, Stephen Ellsmore, the 56-year-old warehouse supervisor says “you don’t get help with it” and you have to fight the system to get what you need.
