A SCHOOL got festive over the weekend.
Testbourne School’s Parent, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) Christmas Fair was held on Saturday as part of a day of Christmas activities throughout Whitchurch, which culminated in the switching on of the town centre lights.
Visitors to the fair were able to enjoy shopping at the array of stalls, which were selling gifts and crafts including handmade cards and wrapping paper produced by pupils and staff from the art department.
There was the opportunity to sit and recharge with homemade cakes and mulled wine at the Christmas café before having a spin on the tombola or taking part in the silent auction.
This year Father Christmas himself appeared at the fair along with his elves, who helped smaller visitors get stuck into glittery Christmas crafts.
A festive atmosphere was created by the musicians from the school, which included the brass and woodwind ensembles.
Associate assistant headteacher Ryan Lester said: “Thank you very much to all those who helped to make the fair a great success either by donating prizes, making cakes or being there on the day. We raised just over £3,000.
“This year the PTFA is raising funds to help refurbish our PE changing rooms. Having more modern changing facilities will be great for the children and it will also be of benefit to the wider community because the changing rooms are used by visitors to our outdoor swimming pool.”
