ANDOVER New Street put up a great show against visiting National League South side Havant and Waterlooville going down 3-2 last Tuesday The home side who play three leagues below the visitors took the lead after 14 minutes after Shane Lock scored.

The visitors hit back as Djamel Leeflang equalised with a 25-yard free-kick.

The Hawks then took the lead on 33 minutes from another set piece this time from the boot of Will Wood.

Havant then extended their lead to 3-1 after Nicke Kabamba beat George Baxter one-on-one.

After the interval, New Street pulled a goal back from the penalty spot thanks to Callum Sweeney.

Manager John Smith said: "We gave a really good account of ourselves."

Unfortunately, they were unable to score again and force the game to a penalty shoot-out, so Havant went into the quarter-finals Last Saturday, New Street in the Wessex League Division One lost narrowly 1-0 at Bournemouth Poppies.

This Saturday, New Street are at home to Bashley in the league and then on Wednesday night, they entertain Stockbridge in the first round of the Andover Open Cup.
