A FACCOMBE pub has been earned a prize for its canine friendly approach.

The appropriately named The Jack Russell has been awarded the title of Best Dog-Friendly Pub in website PetsPyjamas 2018 Dog-Friendly Travel Awards.

The Jack Russell secured the winning spot thanks to its bedrooms named after breeds of dog, the surrounding Hampshire countryside and perks including a bar and restaurant, garden, two resident canine pals and country walks on its doorstep.

There is even a special beer for dogs and a Polaroid camera to add snaps to the doggy guest book.

Ross Nicol, landlord for The Jack Russell said: “We like to look after our four-legged friends as much as our two-legged ones.

“Dogs have been such a big part of my life and to run an establishment that embraces this so much is a dream.

“My two dogs, Betty and Barnie, love meeting new guests and their canine companions. Just make sure you sign their welcome book.

“It is a great honour to receive this award. Looking at the other properties on PetsPyjamas.com every year, there are more and more wonderful venues that offer dog friendly accommodation, so we know there was some stiff competition. Being named The Jack Russell, it’s easy to embrace the dog friendly approach, but even we didn’t know how popular staying away with your dog can be and PetsPyjamas.com has been a great way for us to promote this.

“We’d like to thank all of our beloved furry guests and their humans for visiting and we hope to see many more dogs and dog lovers in the future.”
