A THREE-year-old boy and his mum will be spreading festive joy at a care home on Christmas Day.

Ethan Burrows and mum Francesca are set to visit Copper Beeches Residential Home on December 25 to spend time with residents.

The idea came to fruition after Francesca watched the Channel 4 programme Old People’s Home for Four-Year -Olds.

“I thought we could give an hour or two of our time on Christmas Day to those residents who might not have families to spend it with,” the 29-year-old said.

“This particular nursing home has a connection with Finkley Down Farm Nursery, where my son goes, so we thought it would be a nice idea.”

Francesca then put a post on social media asking if anyone else would like to come along and she was contacted by other mums who were eager to get involved.

And on Christmas Day eight mums, including Francesca, and their children will visit the home in Woodlands Way to offer some festive fun.

“Everyone who approached me said it was a nice idea to give part of our Christmas Day to talk to strangers.”

She added: “I think it is really nice that people like me want to give up some time for people who they have never met before.”

But it is not just someone to talk to that Francesca and Ethan will be offering as the pair will bake gingerbread for the residents on Christmas Eve in time for the visit.

And when asked about what they hope from the visit, Francesca said: “Just to see smiles on their faces.”
