ROBIN Hood and his band of Merry Men came to life in comedic fashion when Winton Academy held its annual pantomime.

Students donned costumes and took on backstage roles to deliver a hysterical show.

The pupils had the opportunity to perform a matinee to Icknield and Vigo schools before they braved three evening performances to the public.

And the audiences hailed the show a success, with comments such as “a good performance and a lot of effort had gone into it by the students” and “an excellent performance by all with some splendid touches of impromptu wit”.

The cast included many Year 7 students and first-time performances from Grace Watts, Elyssia Hewlett, Summer Winford and Megan Hammond just to name a few, with both novice and seasoned actors putting the audience in hysterics with wardrobe choices and creative lines.

Mrs Franklin, head of visual and performing arts said, “It was fantastic to see so many new performers on our stage who wowed the audience with their talent. Each night the students grew in confidence and their hard work paid off.

“I look forward to seeing the students in our future productions in the new year.”
