THE BASINGSTOKE and Alton area of Cruse Bereavement Care is launching a new “Foundation Course” in March 2019 in an effort to train more volunteers and are looking for people from Andover to help.

More volunteers are urgently needed to keep up with the increasing number of people contacting the local charity for bereavement support.

The chair of North Hampshire Cruse, Colin Godfrey, said: “More and more people are contacting our service but with a limited number of bereavement volunteers in Basingstoke and Alton, we are under pressure and our waiting list is getting longer.

“To try and rectify this, anyone from Basingstoke and Andover will be given priority.

“The charity is also looking at other ways to cut its waiting list and is hopeful of introducing these early 2019”.

If you are a good listener and would like to help those who are bereaved, contact the charity for an application form.

The course will take place in Andover. Candidates will have to undertake an interview prior to being accepted on the course and will require DBS check before supporting clients.
