THE DEATH of a man killed in a gas explosion is not being treated as suspicious, police have confirmed.

Hampshire police has said that its officers have concluded their search at the scene in Launcelot Close, Andover following the blast at around 2.30am on December 27.

The body of 48-year-old man James Kirkby, of Launcelot Close, was found at the site hours after the explosion.

The scene has now been handed over to housing association, Aster, which owns the two properties affected.

A force spokesman said: “Following an extensive search of the site, the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the coroner.

“The cause of the explosion is believed to have been isolated to the individual property and there are no identified safety concerns that will affect the wider community.

“Officers would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while we investigated this incident.”
