THE friend and manager of a motorcyclist who died after being struck by a car has paid tribute to him.

Ric Oldham, 35 and from Whitchurch, died as a result of a crash on the B3400, near Hurstbourne Priors, at 5.40pm on December 22 as he travelled to work.

Mr Oldham worked as a front of house team member at the Watership Down Inn, in Freefolk, where staff have been “devastated” by his loss.

Pub manager Anna Foldvari said: “He was an amazing person, a true gentleman. He will be missed and definitely it is a huge loss for us.

“He worked here nearly a year and honestly he made the difference.

“It has been really hard for us and the whole team.”

The pub hopes to do something to commemorate their colleague in future while currently respecting the family’s privacy at this time.

Tributes were also paid on Facebook.

Al Blackburn said: “Rest in peace my friend. Top bloke, a complete diamond and absolute legend. Miss you Ric.”

Matthew Dean Vint added: “Such a massive loss to this world. An all-round great guy, taken far to soon. Rest in peace Ric, your memory and legacy will live on.”

Mr Oldham was pronounced dead at the scene while the driver of the Ford Focus involved in the crash, a man, and his female passenger, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital.

The road was closed in both directions while police carried out investigations into the exact circumstances of the collision.
