VOLUNTEERS were honoured at a party celebrating their importance to the work of Andover and District Mencap last month.
The Winchester Road-based charity has more than 60 volunteers ranging from roles in administration, supporting the nine adult clubs and fundraising.
Chief executive Chris Dixon said: “Volunteers are integral to the work we do as an organisation. They bring a range of skills that compliment the rest of the team, together with their commitment to enabling Andover and District Mencap to meet the needs of our clients and members.”
Ten-year volunteer Victoria Cheshire said her role gives her a “massive boost of confidence” and is the highlight of her week.
She added: “ I very much appreciate being part of ADM. I have been given the wonderful opportunity to volunteer in the office when I am well enough.
“The staff are wonderful. They look after me when I have had epileptic seizures and guide me.
“All I have ever wanted is to do is to work and have good health and volunteering allows me to get as close to this as I can.”
