AN INVITATION is being extended to find out more about the services available to expectant mothers in Andover.

Andover War Memorial Hospital is holding an open day in the maternity centre on Wednesday, 16 January.

Maternity staff working at the Charlton Road hospital are throwing open the doors to the public between 10am and 4pm to show the types of facilities available at the hospital.

Expectant families are encouraged to attend as midwives will be offering their advice about pregnancy, birth and post- natal care.

Maxine Ellis, community midwifery matron at Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which runs Andover hospital, as well as Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and Royal Hampshire County Hospital, in Winchester, said: “The theme of the day is A Journey of Birth and there will be staff available to speak to people about the various services provided at our maternity centre in Andover.

“We would also like to hear what people think about the current facilities and services available at the maternity centre to help us find out what we might be able to improve going forward.”

There is no need to book in advance and refreshments of hot drinks and cakes will be available for all attendees.
