A FAMILY has been left out of pocket and frustrated after a carpet company dissolved, leaving them without their order.

Flooring Made Easy, in Junction Road, shut suddenly in November with the Walker family left in the dark after placing an order of around £320.

Rob Walker and wife Alicia received an estimate from the company in June last year to have their stairs and landing carpeted, having previously dealt with the business for their daughter’s bedroom at their home in Humberstone Road, Andover.

But it was not until October 2018 that the family decided to go ahead with the work.

“We then got enough money for the stairs, so I contacted them [Flooring Made Easy] and asked if we could follow up on the stairs, we just needed to pay it and then they would come out the same week or next week,” Mr Walker, aged 58, said.

But that is when the trouble began for the family as they continued to contact owner Steven Robin Mann but to little avail.

“I kept sending messages and they said they would come another time, saying they would come, arranging a time and date and then cancelling.

“One time I used my work phone and they picked up and Steven said as soon as he got back into Andover he would sort it and we were told that they would do something but they never actually did it.”

The delivery was almost two months overdue and Mr Mann still had their payment but to Mr Walker’s surprise on November 6 the company had dissolved — which means the firm is removed from the register at Companies House.

Mr Walker added he has attempted to take action through the small claims court to resolves the matter and get the money he paid for the carpet fitting returned to him.

Mr Walker added that the family have now been left in limbo and feel they cannot go somewhere else to get a carpet fitted.

“I feel very despondent and let down, this type of thing has never happened before — people always honour their agreement. It just makes everything to awkward for everybody.

“We can’t go to anyone else because if then he volunteers to fit the carpet — now we just have to live without it.”

Mr Mann was contacted by the Advertiser but did not wish to comment on the matter.
