A DATE has been announced for Andover Library to reopen its doors after a £325,000 revamp.

The Chantry Centre site has been temporarily closed since December as work has been carried out to modernise the space, create a new community room, an expanded children's area and more.

Bookworms will be able to return as the library opens its doors on February 6.

Hampshire County Council’s executive member for recreation and heritage, Councillor Seán Woodward, said: “We are looking forward to reopening Andover Library in early February following £325,000 of county council investment to modernise the branch and make it an engaging and versatile space for the local community to study, meet, read, learn and access a broad range of resources including IT.

“Visitors will notice improvements including a larger children’s area able to accommodate more activities; a community room for hire; an accessible toilet; new furniture; and self-service kiosks.

“The refurbishment has gone well and plans are to reopen to the public on 6 February, with further details available on Andover library’s social media channels.”

The spruce-up comes as part of Hampshire County Council's four-year plan to invest £500,000 a year into library buildings and technology to transform its services by 2020.
