BUSINESS is booming in Overton High Street as yet another new venture is finding its feet in the community.

Villagers of all generations can now get creative in Bloom painting pottery, decopatch, attend workshops and release their inner expression in the new arty venue.

Owners Suzie and Graham Brown initially opened on Saturdays only in December, but has since grown their hours to Monday to Saturday and from February will be opening one evening and Sunday a month to continue to meet its growing popularity.

Suzie said: “It’s definitely lots of word of mouth, Facebook is helping with liking and sharing and in Overton people are really friendly and really nice — it’s a strong community.

“We know from having two children it’s nice to have somewhere local to blow off some steam and here you can do something creative which is another strand to them expressing themselves. And adults enjoy it too.

“Slowly we will be able to offer an evening a month and Sundays.”

From painting unicorns and milk jugs the high street front also sells Suzie’s own handcrafted lamp shades and hopes to add more interior stock, jewellery and other products for sale in coming months.

The family-run business is one of 64 members of the Overton Business Association (OBA), and with the surge of new high street shop openings and a beauty salon yet to come, OBA committee member Martin Fielder said the village has “cottoned on” to what high streets are about.

He said: “We have got the day to day necessities but also experiential shops where people come here for the pleasure of it.

“Bloom is a really, really interesting shop, we were really excited when they approached us about opening it is a proper experience but it is a retail shop. You can go in there make a rhino, unicorn, that is what customers made and they have paid to do that and people love that. That is the future of high street shopping it’s about enjoying yourself.”
