A NEW club is aiming to inspire women to improve their physical and mental wellbeing and become happier and healthier through running.

This Mum Runs is coming to Tidworth to help women find friendship and headspace through running.

The movement was founded four years ago by Mel Bound, a mum of two, after she posted on a local mums Facebook page that, re-starting her running journey after injury and lacking the confidence to run alone, she was looking for a run buddy to join her.

That night 75 mums turned up, and This Mum Runs was born.

Now over 50,000 mums are part of the community, and it is hoping that more will take part when it launches in the town for not only military mums but those in the wider community.

This Mum Runs weekly runs help carve out time just for themselves, to not only get outside and go for a run, but make friends and find some headspace, in a supportive and welcoming community.

Runs are led by Run Angels, local mums who have received training in order to lead the events.

The runs are for all abilities, take place at family friendly times as the group knows all too well how difficult it can be to even get out of the house

Rosalind Oram, community leader for This Mum Runs Military Mums in Tidworth, said: “This is a great opportunity to get mums, non-mums, ladies serving in the military, ladies local to Tidworth and any other ladies out for a sociable run. Perfect for headspace, fresh air and exercise all in one.”

The first run will take place on March 16, at 9am, at the AT Arcot Road, in Tidworth.

Mums of all ages can take part and join the group.
