ARMED with litter pickers and bags, children kept Tidworth tidy during half term.
Over two days last week young members of the community, joined by adults and town councillors, collected 50 bags of rubbish from across the area.
Members of the Tiger Cub Pack, Woodland Beavers, Holy Trinity Church, a group of Brownies and the garrison commander also got involved with the pick.
Tesco in Tidworth was on hand to help out, with the supermarket offering employees to take part and bin bags to store the collected rubbish.
A spokesman for Tidworth Town Council said: βIt went very well, we had a great attendance. The kids thoroughly enjoyed themselves and had cake and biscuits afterwards which were made by the town clerk.β
During the pick, the group tackled the town centre, parts of the Riverbourne Estate, around Zouch Academy, the football fields, by the Oval and sections along the river.
The event is usually held during the October half term, but it was decided the event was such a success that it should take place twice a year, and is in the spirit of taking care of the town, teaching the future generations to keep Tidworth tidy.
The next litter pick is scheduled to take place in October.
