A HOUSING association has lodged plans to rebuild two houses destroyed in a gas explosion.

Aster has submitted an application to Test Valley Borough Council to reconstruct 1 and 2 Launcelot Close.

The blast occurred in the early hours of December 27 last year, killing 48-year-old James Kirkby.

The application, on behalf of Aster states: “The former dwelling at No.1 Launcelot Close recently suffered accidental damage from a gas explosion that resulted in its complete collapse. The dwelling at No.2 Launcelot Close still stands but was damaged to the extent that it is required to demolish and rebuild it.”

It is expected that the homes will be replaced like-for-like, “adopting the same design and finish previously used”.
