A WEYHILL care home was full of animal mischief when two furry but unusual visitors came to visit.

On Monday residents at Rothsay Grange, in Weyhill Road, were pleasantly surprised to see two alpacas roaming around their home, who even went in the lift to visit some residents who could not make it out, when Alpaca Adventure paid a visit.

Rothsay Grange general manager Jessica Salway said: “Our residents have really enjoyed their unusual visitors today. We knew that having the farm here would be a bit of fun for all our residents, especially as some find it difficult to go on many outings in our minibus.

“We are always looking for new activities for the residents and today we have seen the enjoyment and the therapeutic influence animals can have on people.”

Resident Sheila was very excited, adding: “As a child I used to love all the animals on the nearby farm. Today was very enjoyable and it was wonderful that the Alpacas were free to roam amongst us.”

Rothsay Grange provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for residents from respite care to long term stays.

Alpaca Adventure is based just outside Shaftesbury, and offers walks with animals on its small holdings.
