STUDENTS were given an insight into the creative industries thanks to Andover College.

The college invited hundreds of Year 9 pupils to Create!, an opportunity to actively consider their futures with a focus on this particular sector.

The event consisted of a range of activities led by staff members, students and visiting universities at The Lights.

During the day, there was a hands-on experience zone featuring interactive activities from universities across the region, along with a variety of workshops to open students’ eyes to the possibilities within the creative industries, held in conjunction with The Red Biscuit Company

Fred and Josh, both third year game design students from Winchester School of Art were showcasing their final project and demonstrating to the students what they could potentially be creating in the future.

Fred said: “This event plays an important role helping show young people what possibilities are out there and giving them a taste of what they can expect from the creative field.

“It’s so important to show the younger generation that they can go into a creative industry, if that’s what they’re passionate about.”

Ben Stokes, assistant principal at Andover College, said: “After the success of last year’s Women in Digital Industries event, we wanted to showcase the exciting opportunities that exist in the creative industries.

“This multi-billion-pound industry offers jobs you may never have considered before and this is why we feel so strongly about this event.”
