AN ANDOVER volunteer raised hundreds of pounds for a charity personal to her.

On Friday last week, Vikki Cheshire hosted an annual event, Purple Day, as part of the International Day for Epilepsy Awareness.

Throughout the day people visited Andover Mencap, in the Wellington Centre, where Vikki has volunteered for 10 years.

An auction for Vikki’s mum’s handmade quilt and cushions took place, along with a massage voucher and a raffle.

Vikki, who was diagnosed with uncontrolled epilepsy at the age of 11, raised money for Epilepsy Action.

She said: “It went really well, it was a success and I am going to be asking people for some feedback for the next time I do Purple Day which will hopefully be next year to make it bigger and better and more successful.”

Cakes were also baked and community leaders attended the event.

“It was very exciting and a really good time,” Vikki added.

In total £269.62 was raised.
