RESIDENTS are being urged to make sure they are registered to vote for this year's May borough council elections.
With just under two weeks to go until the deadline to register to vote in the local elections this May, Test Valley Borough Council is urging residents to make sure they are registered in time.
On May 2, Test Valley Borough Council voters will head to the polls to elect their borough ward councillors and, where contested, their parish councillors for the next four years.
However, the deadline to register to vote is midnight on Friday, April 12.
Those who are already registered to vote do not need to re-register. Anyone not registered to vote at their current address can register online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.
Those unable to cast a vote in person on May 2 can apply for a postal or proxy vote.
The deadline to apply to vote by post for these elections is 5pm on April 15.
Proxy voting allows you to nominate someone else to cast your vote for you. The deadline to apply to vote by proxy at these elections is 5pm on April 24.
Applications for postal or proxy voting can be requested by calling 01264 368000 or via testvalley.gov.uk/Elections2019.
