RAIL chiefs have apologised after Andover railway station was forced to close its ticket office this week.

The office has remained temporarily unavailable since Saturday (April 6), and station customers took to social media this week to voice their complaints.

However, it has since been revealed that station bosses were forced into the closure due to unforeseen staff sickness.

The office is on track to reopen soon, although an official time and date has not yet been given.

A spokesperson for South Western Railway said: “We have contacted the station manager who has confirmed that the ticket office is closed due to staff illness. It is due to reopen shortly.

“In the meantime, ticket vending machines are available for customers to purchase tickets and staff are on hand to help with any queries.

“We are sorry for the inconvenience caused to customers.”
