A PRE-SCHOOL and after-school club have maintained their ‘outstanding’ rating from Ofsted following a visit last month.

St Andrew’s Pre-School and Jammie Dodgers After School Club, based in St Andrew’s Road, Tidworth, were visited by an inspector from the education watchdog on April 24, and a report published on May 13 graded them as ‘outstanding’ in all areas.

The staff were praised by Ofsted for their “exceptional relationships” with parents, which was noted as enabling them to meet the needs of families.

Sarah Hawkins, executive coordinator, TNB Garrison Early Years and Play, said: “TNB Garrison Early Years and Play are thrilled with the Ofsted grading and report.

“It is testament to the dedication of the manager and the team and their continual strive to provide the very best for their children and their families.

“TNB Garrison Early Years and Play continue to go from strength to strength with all of our settings being graded as outstanding or good.

“We are very proud to provide high quality childcare across Salisbury Plain.”

The report said: “The manager and staff share an ethos of ongoing improvement and development.

“They are currently working on an ‘eager for excellence’ programme across the pre-school to review and adapt the environment, the use of resources and teaching practice to provide the very best outcomes for children.”

It added: “Staff are skilled at inspiring children to learn. They provide stimulating open-ended resources which capture children’s interests.”

Inspector Catherine Sample found that children at the setting were “extremely settled and happy”, and said “staff work tirelessly to engage those that need extra help with building social skills”.

She added: “Children are very eager to learn. Younger children show great excitement as they move into a room with different resources for them to explore.”

The pre-school and after-school club, which has 85 children on its roll, was previously inspected in 2015 when it was also graded as ‘outstanding’.

It is part of the TNB Garrison Early Years and Play group which runs seven settings based in Tidworth, Bulford, Larkhill and Perham Down.

Sarah Hawkins, executive coordinator of the group, described the Ofsted report as a “great achievement”.
