THERE was a flash of colour as young and old took part in an inaugural fancy dress run in aid of good causes.

On Saturday, 30 adults and 20 children from Thruxton, Fyfield and Kimpton villages got involved in the first-ever Juniper June Jog.

The participants walked or ran around Thruxton Sports field as many times as they could.

For every lap completed the adults were rewarded with a gin-based cocktail and the children with some sweet treats.

Some of those who took part managed more laps than others, with Olivia Turner, nine, taking top spot with a distance of 10km in 68 minutes.

Everybody was said to have “had a fantastic time” and raised £500 which has been split between the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance and Andover Foodbank.

Event organiser Richard Smart said: “It was amazing to see so many adults and kids in fancy dress, having fun outdoors and raising a significant amount for charity. Next year’s Juniper Jog will hopefully be even bigger and better.”

A raffle also took place.
