A MAN has been disqualified from driving for 14 months after crashing his car while over the limit.
James Stuart Woodhouse, 26, of Edge Lane, Dewsbury, pleaded guilty at Salisbury Magistrates Court on June 21.
On February 2, officers came across a Ford Focus which had crashed at Broken Cross Bridge Road, near Hurdcott.
Woodhouse got out of the vehicle and was found to be over the prescribed alcohol limit.
He was arrested and taken to custody in Melksham.
As well as the 14-month disqualification, Woodhouse was also fined £276, ordered to pay Crown Prosecution Service costs of £85 and a victim services surcharge of £30.
PC Aaron Pedliham said: “I am pleased with the outcome of this case and I hope this can help educate drivers and send a message to those who think it is ok to drink and drive that this behaviour will not be tolerated.
“On this occasion the driver was lucky that no one else was involved and he walked away with minor injuries.
“Drink driving can have a devastating impact on many people’s lives so please think before you put the key in the ignition. If you see, know of, or suspect someone of drink or drug driving I would encourage you to call police on 101 or 999 to report it if the incident is in progress.”
