AROUND 250 jobs could be created if plans to build six industrial units are approved.

An application has been submitted to create the units on the land off Manchester Road, Bolton, which used to be office building Meridian Court.

Although no potential tenants are detailed in the plans, the proposed uses for the units are B1 (offices), B2 (general industrial) and B8 (storage and distribution).

The land, which also includes the site of the demolished United Utilities building, is owned by Euro Garages bosses Mohsin and Zuber Issa.

The Blackburn-based billionaires have already had plans approved to build a drive-thru restaurant, petrol station and a gym on the site.

The new proposals would see 41 car parking spaces created and some landscaping work around the site.

Planning agents PWA Planning said: “The proposals include a significant amount of landscaping which is predominantly located along the site’s boundaries, including some trees, which will in turn help soften the impact of built development on the site to its surroundings.

“The development of the site would not result in any adverse impacts on the local highway network and it has been demonstrated that there will not be any negative effects on ecology.

“The principle of the development is in accordance with the development plan and there is not considered to be any impact on neighbouring residential amenity that cannot be controlled by suitably worded planning conditions if required.”
