AN ANDOVER sports club has netted a “considerable” donation to help with the delivery of its junior coaching programme.

Andover Lawn Tennis Club (ALTC) has received a cheque for £249.96 from the Jamie G Sporting Trust to buy three mini tennis nets for the club’s junior coaching programme.

The club’s facility, at Balksbury Hill, is used by more than 250 children aged three to 17 every week.

Margaret Winnet, ALTC junior organiser, said: “The youngest players use mini nets, working on smaller courts across the full-size court and the mini nets are a vital piece of equipment.

“On the five tennis courts at the club, 30 mini nets are needed to deliver the coaching, so the donation from the Jamie G Trust was most welcome and the club are very grateful to the support that the Jamie G Trust gives to sport in the Andover area.”

Applications remain open for further funding from the Jamie G Sporting Trust.
