OVERTON is planning a bid that could see it named the best village in the county.
The parish council is assembling an application for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Village of the Year (VOY) competition.
The competition, sponsored by Fullers, is concerned with recognising and rewarding what is happening in the county’s rural communities.
Chandlers Ford are the current holders of the title, with previous winners including Vernham Dean, in 2012, and Enham Alamein, jointly in 2015.
Applications must be submitted by July 31, after which representatives will visit each locality that has entered to see the village and find out more information.
Judging then takes place in August with a prize giving event set for September 25, in Chandler’s Ford.
