THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised to give children at an Andover school “something extra”, thanks to its summer fayre.

Vigo Primary School hosted the annual event on Saturday, with plenty of fun to be had throughout the day.

Many were enthralled by the variety of traditional games from a coconut shy, to ring-toss and the stocks.

The live entertainment came in a number of forms, but each as enjoyable as the next. Singer Laura Shears performed an array of songs, while Susanna School of Dance and Ruby Slippers showcased their skills, and there was a display from Scorpion Judo Club.

The fayre was organised by the school’s parent teacher association, and chair Adam Scowen said: “It went really well, there were a lot of people there. It is one of the best ones that we have run.”

Overall the event raised £3,000 which will be used to buy playtime equipment and books.

“These days the school budget has been cut so much and it is so nice to get out and raise extra money for the school so that the kids can have something extra that the budget cannot supply these days.”

Adam added: “The parents had a great time and they are always supportive of us - it is very family orientated.

“Thank you for the support from everyone who came.”
