TEN years after it opened its doors, The Wellington Academy will celebrate a decade of educating youngsters.

In September 2009 the school was founded in Ludgershall, with the site having previously been home to Tidworth Down School which was later renamed Castledown School.

The original building was used for one year while the new building was constructed and then in 2010 The Wellington Academy moved into their new building and the old one was knocked down.

Now, in 2019, the Wellington College Academy Trust comprises of The Wellington Academy, Wellington Primary Academy, The Nest Nursery and from September 2019 – Wellington Eagles Primary Academy and Eagles Nest Nursery.

This year over 880 11-19 year olds attended The Wellington Academy and next year is going to be the biggest ever with over 230 year 7’s and an increase in every other year group due to the Army Rebasing move from Germany.

And to celebrate its 10th birthday the academy is hosting its biggest-ever summer festival.

This celebration is an open invitation to everyone involved in the Wellington family – children from all of the schools, parents, families, friends, the Wellington Academy Combined Cadet Force, 26 Engineer Regiment, Ludgershall and Tidworth residents, local businesses and community groups.

There will be a variety of activities, with entry and all attractions free.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 20, between 11am and 4pm.
