THE seaside was brought to Andover last week, as fish, a lighthouse and pirates descended on the High Street.

Four Fun Fridays returned this year with a ‘beside the sea theme’, and a host of enjoyment for youngsters.

Children and their parents got colouring with Urban Canvas and their giant 2D shell chalk paintings, while others visited The Lighthouse and took part in their make and take workshop.

Shows were performed by the Edwardian Bathers in their bathing machines.

Also on hand to provide excitement was The Art Room and Andover Vision with activities to get involved in, as well as free face painting for little ones, and Amanda from Merry Go Round Storytelling told the tale of Pirate Jim’s Magic Mop.

Andover Trees United set up stall to tell people about International Day of Peace.

Leader of Test Valley Borough Council, Councillor Phil North said: “Four Fun Fridays is an excellent, fun way to bring a sense of excitement to the High Street and to encourage more people to come along and share in all that Andover has to offer. What better way to start the summer holidays than by enjoying a seaside themed day of crafts, creative activities and storytelling, and all for free?”

Four Fun Fridays are taking place on August 16 and 23, with the cancelled August 9 event still to be arranged.
