TWO people were taken to hospital after a serious accident near Whitchurch this morning.

The incident happened just before 11am on Larks Barrow Hill Road near the north junction of the A34.

The two passengers, one male and one female, had to be cut out of their cars following the crash. Both were taken to Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital by ambulance.

Their injuries are not life threatening.

South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) was called to the scene at 10.44am, with Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service called shortly after at 10.50am.

Firefighters from Whitchurch, Winchester and Andover were in attendance, as well as three SCAS ambulances and one Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance crew, plus the Hazardous Area Response Team.

Two private vehicles were involved in the accident, with one of the casualties medically trapped and the other physically trapped.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area due to congestion as emergency services clear the road.
