A WOMAN suffered injuries to her face after she was racially abused and assaulted in Andover on Friday night.

The incident took place at around 11.45pm on Friday, August 9, at the junction of Picket Twenty and Levy Road.

A 28-year-old woman was approached by a man she did not know. He racially abused her before pushing her to the ground and assaulting her.

After a struggle, the woman was able to run away but she sustained a cut above her eye and facial bruising.

The man who carried out the attack is thought to be between 23 and 25. He is described as white, 5ft 8ins tall and of a slim build, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark jogging bottoms and white Adidas shoes with three black stripes on the side.

Police are now appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have seen someone acting suspiciously, to contact them.
