THE weather, in true British fashion has kept gardeners on their toes this year, but it did not deter the efforts of members who produced a variety of produce for Clatford Valley Garden Club’s annual show.

On Saturday, the judges commented that entries were a high in each section.

The prizes were presented by Test Valley mayor Councillor Martin Hatley and Councillor Alison Johnston. They met members of the club and visitors as they viewed the exhibits and watched the Potato-Weigh-In, and during tea held in Betty Armstong’s garden.

Peter Heslop won overall best in show receiving The Harbord Silver Challenge Cup; The Pouncey’s Cup for Vegetables was awarded to by Peter Heslop.

The Stuart Bowl for Fruit was won by Carla Benedict, second Anthony Lynn.

Roy Waters’ Cup for Flowers was won by Betty Armstrong, while in the Produce section The Edmunds’ Challenge Cup was won by Jenny Kay

The Heslop Cup for children, this year was to make a scarecrow, was won jointly by Eva, Marla and Reuben Stuart and George and Mary Hunt.

Potato Weigh–In was won by Anthony Lynn 6.2kg. Brian Kay was second with 1.96 kgs. Joint third were Brian Stuart and Betty Armstrong with 1.56kg.
