A COMMUNITY stalwart and councillor has been given an insight of volunteering at one of Andover’s charity shops.
Last month Councillor Iris Andersen offered her support to Cancer Research UK to discover what support they had and might need.
Throughout the day she worked along five volunteers who, she said, “had their whole heart and sole in what they were doing”.
Cllr Andersen added: “A very successful day supporting another charity, it’s not every day they have five volunteers, every one of those people were giving a few hours.”
One volunteer she met had committed to two days a week, and Cllr Andersen said: “You just can’t believe the amount of work that goes on behind the scenes, management staff made me feel very welcomed. well done to everybody for working with me.
“Pop down and do a few hours you are made to feel welcome.”
