A SPATE of burglaries believed to be linked have sparked a word of warning from police, plus an appeal for further information.

Officers say that a number of incidents “of a similar nature” have led to houses in Tidworth being targeted of late.

The most recent instance took place early this morning (Monday) when a man entered the porch area of a house in Churchill Close at around 2.10am.

While it is not believed that anything was stolen, it is the third such incident to have taken place in the area and police have urged residents to be cautious.

PC Louise Thomas said: “This is the third incident of a similar nature in the area and we would like to continue to urge residents to be mindful.

“Don’t leave valuable items near doors and windows and report any suspicious behaviour immediately.

“We are treating these incidents as linked and have been increasing patrols in the area.”

Police have also appealed for assistance following this most recent burglary.

Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54190089104.

As reported by the Advertiser last month, a house in Churchill Close was targeted five weeks ago at around 5.45pm on Sunday, August 8, sparking a police manhunt.

Again, a man had gained access to the front porch of a property on the street, but he was spooked and ran away after the homeowner challenged him.
