A "SMALL delay" means the new owners of a village pub will have to wait another week before officially taking the reins.

Jeremy Morey and Anthony Murray, and front of house manager Paul Thatcher, had been set to reopen the doors of the Red Lion, in Overton, tomorrow (Friday).

A family day was then planned for the Saturday with food set to be launched on the Tuesday.

But due to a brief hold up with solicitors, Paul says the team “have had the opening date pushed back a week.”

The opening weekend is now pencilled in for Friday, September 20.

The family day will then take place the following day, as originally planned, with food set to be available as of Tuesday, September 24.

Soon-to-be ex-owners Shannon and Caroline Wells, who were due to hand over the keys this week following a farewell party last Friday, confirmed the news via the pub’s Facebook page.

A post read: “Just a quick note to say that due to a small delay in exchanging contracts, we will still be here for another week.

“The pub will be open as usual.”
