NOMINATIONS have opened for Andover's best neighbour.

The competition, run by Co-op Insurance and Neighbourhood Watch, aims to find the people who go above and beyond for their community.

Now in its second year, the competition will crown an overall UK Neighbour of the Year, as well as regional winners.

Caroline Hunter, Head of Home Insurance at Co-op, said: “We know that people are doing great things as neighbours, and in their overall community, so we’re looking forward to hearing about these people and celebrating those neighbours who are doing things that are extra special in their community.”

On top of the main winners, the 2019 competition sees the introduction of the ‘Community Spaces Champion’, which goes to someone who has shown commitment to save, improve or use a local space to the benefit of their neighbours or local community.

The criteria for the main prize, which was developed by Co-op members, are that good neighbours look out for each other, are sociable and friendly, are practically helpful, and they’re kind, caring and respectful.

Entries close on October 18.
