A TEENAGER arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm following an incident in a Southampton school has been bailed by police.

Officers said a teenage girl was attacked at Regent's Park Community College on Friday and was taken to hospital with injuries to her neck.

People living near Regents Park Community College (RPCC) reported seeing police cars and an ambulance at the site.

A police spokesman said: "We were called at 10.50am (yesterday) with reports of an assault at Regent’s Park Community College.

"A teenage girl sustained injuries to her neck during this incident and has been taken to hospital for treatment."

Police are not saying how the girl was assaulted.

On Friday a spokesman said: "We are unable to provide further details at this time while our enquiries remain in the very early stages."

The boy has now been bailed until October 11 pending further investigation.

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We sent a specialist paramedic in a rapid response vehicle to the school following a call at 10.41am reporting an injury to one of the pupils.

"The pupil's family were happy to take the patient to hospital following advice that they needed further treatment at the emergency department for a minor injury."
